Yes i agree wholeheartedly about the legalities involved with illegal modification of an exhaust system of any kind, but there is an actual maintenance interval for the DPF. I have seen the pages in the various service manuals (primarily Detroit can CAT) and the CAT service interval requires the use of engine-specific software to service that DPF. Just FYI.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well!!

Earlier tonight my TSA just sold two bottles of DEF for a total of 5gallons to a driver of a 2010 FTL Coronado with a DD15. I didn't get a chance to get a look at the setup this time. Driver stated it is one of the test trucks though.

its actually suposed to help with fuel millage and power because they will being routing less exuast gas threw the intake for the EGR system and is actually a mixture of water and urea witch is suppost to freeze at 12 degrees ferinheight and it is designed to work with the catalyst system. as far as i have been told

I've seen this indusrty change by leaps and bounds during my career, at what point will the trucker be able to charge the EPA for cleaning the air. at the rate they're going, a diesel engine will exhaust cleaner air than it's taking in..I'm just wondering..lol.

hi
i have been working on DAF trucks in the UK now for a few years and on SCR ..we call it AD-BLUE ...whilst reading previous threads it seems you have got how it works sussed ..i'll give a quick rundown of what happensonthe DAF system ,which will i imagine be much the same on the peterbilt .both owned by paccar and using the MX engine .

contrary to what drivers think ..the vehicle won't use DEF as soon as the engine is started...certain parameters are required ..the exhaust temp before and after the CAT has to be over 200 degrees c ,fraid i don't know what that is in farenheight ..lol...once the temp is correct ,then the pump in the EAS unit starts building pressure....when the engine is put under load example you r floor it ,or you are going up hills, that is where the most nox is produced ,and that is when DEF is injected in to the exhaust stream..if you take your foot of the throttle then nox drops and no DEF is injected.....some common problems ,are DEF will crystalise and can block the injector ,and the dosing module ,easily cleaned out with hot water ..if you pour some on the workshop floor and leave it ,you will see it crystalise and creep alond the workshop....the strength should be 32 bric ..drivers have been known to water it down and complain they are using to much ...obviously if watered down it can'ty clean the nox so it will use more ....also peeing in the tank is not a substitute ,yes drivers will do it ....along with drivers filling the DEF tank with fuel ,oil and any other fluid they can think off..which will break the EAS unit ,price here £4000....customers moaned and wanted a more robust unit against contamination ,which they got ,,so now if they fill it with fuel it sits in the exhaust till it's hot enough ,and blows the exhaust apart lol..again £4000...diagnostics is pretty easy on the system...over here if there is a fault ,the driver has 50 hours to get it to a workshop for repair before it derates

if anyone has any questions ,i'll do my best to answer them
